HOW TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION

Post  Bubba on Sun Jan 20, 2008 10:43 pm

Section 15 article (b) of the Levins Bend purchase agreement states:
(b) Insulation. Pursuant to the Federal Trade Commission's Trade Regulation Rule on labeling and advertising of home insulation (16 CFR, Part 460), the type, thickness and R-Value of the insulation that will be installed in each part of the Unit are as follows:

Location.......................Type...............Thickness.......................R-Value
Exterior Walls.................Batt...............6 Inches.........................R-13
Roof..............................Rigid..............2 Inches (minimum).........R-16

If Section 15 article(b) is in all 190 Levins Bend purchase agreements, it would appear that the developer must comply with: "INSULATION WILL BE INSTALLED IN EACH PART OF THE UNIT". It appears AIG Baker may have failed to insulate condo ceilings and walls as called for in the contract. Without the 2 Inch rigid roof insulation mounted to the underside of the concrete then covered with sheet-rock, condo owner have no accoustic/thermal insulation in their ceilings (and possibly walls).

Q. What should I do if I don't get information about the R-value from the manufacturer, retailer, installer or new home seller?
